If you’re here, you’re likely trying to answer an important question:
Is the SAT helping your child—or quietly holding them back?
I work with Walnut Creek students to help them prepare for the SAT in a way that supports the bigger picture. My approach is calm, focused, and tailored to how each student actually thinks and learns.
What to Expect from Tutoring
In our sessions, we focus on more than just getting answers right.
I help students:
-
understand how SAT questions are designed
-
recognize patterns in their mistakes
-
develop a more reliable way of reasoning under time pressure
-
build confidence so test day feels manageable, not overwhelming
The goal is steady progress and a clearer sense of where to focus—not unnecessary stress.
Experience
I’ve spent over 20 years tutoring and teaching the SAT, working with students both one-on-one and at scale. In addition to private tutoring, I was the lead content and curriculum designer at Magoosh, where I created hundreds of instructional videos and thousands of practice questions used by students worldwide.
I’m also the author of a bestselling test prep workbook and have been featured in outlets such as CollegeXpress and U.S. News & World Report.
This background gives me a deep understanding of how the test works—and how students often get tripped up.
Recent Student Progress
I work with students at a wide range of starting points. In one recent case, a student improved their SAT score from 1220 to 1530 through steady, focused preparation. Another improved from 1050 to 1390.
Every student is different, but my goal is always the same: meaningful progress built on understanding and confidence.
Before You Book
If you’re unsure whether tutoring is the right next step, I encourage starting with a short conversation.
A brief call can help clarify:
-
whether the SAT is currently a concern
-
what kind of preparation makes sense
-
what to focus on (and what not to)
There’s no obligation, just a chance to talk things through.
